Connecting your family to your food.
In this email, we’re excited to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what we’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks here at Mortimer Farms.
Farming is a dying profession, but it remains essential for the survival of all. Mortimer Farms is the last farm of its kind in our area, and every day we fight against the odds—working long hours, sometimes 12-16 hours a day—to protect this land and the food it provides. We are passionate about our mission to preserve agriculture and bring fresh, local food to the community.
As a special thank you for being part of our journey, we’ve hidden a fun giveaway in this email! You’ll have the chance to win two free tickets to our upcoming Farm to Table Dinner! We can’t wait to celebrate with you and share the magic of Mortimer Farms.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to what’s ahead!
We’re heading to the Phoenix Wedding Expo this Sunday and couldn’t be more excited!
If you’re a bride-to-be, come say hi—we’d love to hear your vision, chat about your big day, and help you start planning the wedding of your dreams!
Let the fun (and planning!) begin!

I’ve been working in the Market the last few days; and let me tell you—my favorite part is getting to chat with you all. I love hearing about what you’re making for dinner, what’s going on in your lives, and sharing a few laughs along the way. It’s amazing how this little space has become such a place of community—neighbors catching up, new friendships starting, and stories being shared over produce, lunch, beef, cookies, and pies.
While I’m there, I can’t help but rearrange a little— making your shopping experience just a bit more magical based on what’s in season and what’s available. Every shelf, every display is thoughtfully designed to help you connect to the story of your food. I hope you feel that love and care every time you walk through the door.

Farm girls!

The Farm Park! This is where laughter echoes, boots get muddy, and moments turn into memories. You’ve got to be here to feel it.

Newest baby to join us at the farm!

Water conservation is so important to us here at Mortimer Farms—and to farms across the country.
This season, we’ve added soil probes that monitor moisture levels at every inch from the surface down to 12 inches deep. Each crop has different water needs, and every soil type holds water differently—so this tool (connected to an app on our phones!) helps us know exactly when and how much to water.
It’s smart farming with the future in mind—so we can keep growing food not just for today, but for generations to come.

Happy Day! Today we celebrate the land that sustains us, the water that nourishes our crops, and the beauty of the farm we get to care for every day. At Mortimer Farms, we’re proud to be stewards of the soil—growing food, protecting natural resources, and connecting people to the story of their food.
Here’s to working with nature - to sustainability, community, and generations to come. Happy Earth Day—from our farm to you!

Nature’s artwork right from the farm! Romanesco is as delicious as it is beautiful—crisp, nutty, and packed with flavor. Proof that the most incredible things really do grow right out of the ground!

Twins at the ranch!

This view is DREAMS!!

There’s nothing like watching kids dig into the dirt, plant with purpose, and light up with pride. Moments like this root them to the land and grow a lifelong love for nature, food, and where it all comes from.
What an absolutely beautiful day surrounded by our AMAZING community! Thank you for celebrating Firewise and spring with us. The sunshine, baby animals, and smiling faces made it unforgettable. And seriously—how sweet is this little lamb?!

Every day, we tend the land with purpose—because feeding our community starts with honoring the earth.
When love makes you feel light enough to fly. The kind of moment you don’t plan—but never forget.
A quiet corner of the farm, laughter in the air, and wide-eyed wonder all around. There’s something truly magical about celebrating another trip around the sun surrounded by nature, play, and the people who matter most. It’s the kind of day that stays with you. We love birthdays at the farm!
Strawberries are officially ready to harvest!
There’s nothing sweeter than a sun-ripened berry picked straight from the vine—but you’ve got to hunt for them!
It’s first come, first serve, and these red beauties are hiding under leaves and along the rows just waiting to be found. The season ebbs and flows depending on the weather, so every visit is a little different—but that’s part of the magic.
Ripe strawberries aren’t guaranteed—Mother Nature is in charge. Please only harvest the fully red berries and leave the rest to ripen a little longer so everyone can enjoy them at their sweetest.

Weddings, strawberries, Farm Park, farmers markets, and the Market & Deli bustling with guests—there’s so much excitement at the farm today, and our incredible team makes it all possible. Meanwhile, we’re still out in the fields, caring for the soil and preparing and planting for the season ahead. Because farming never pauses—and neither does the love we pour into every part of this land.
The above post was a glimpse into just how much heart and hustle goes into a day at the farm—with Sharla in the tractor, because she truly does it all.
While it wasn’t planned as a Mother’s Day post, looking back, I should have saved it for Mother's Day—it captured the spirit of Sharla so perfectly. Since I jumped the gun, I’m borrowing Jenna’s words from the May Farm to Table Dinner and sharing some of our favorite photos from the evening:
Happy Mother’s Day to the original mama—Mother Nature.
We couldn’t do what we do without her. Every crop we grow, every meal we serve, and every moment shared on this land is made possible by her rhythms, resilience, and grace. Farming is a partnership between our hands and the earth—and we’re honored to be part of that story.
We love the monthly Farm to Table Dinners - a time to celebrate Mother Nature, community, and food! The June menu is live - it is so good!
Happy Mother’s Day to Sharla, to all the incredible farm mamas, and to every mother who grows, nurtures, and cares for the world around her.

Planting bare-root strawberries today! These little plants may not look like much now, but they’re full of potential. After a good soak, we nestle them into the soil—roots down, crown at soil level—and let Mother Nature take it from there. With care, sun, and time, they’ll grow into sweet, juicy berries that are worth every bit of hard work!

Finishing the last few beds, laying irrigation, and watering the soil—every step done with care to give our baby plants the best start possible. Moist soil helps protect the delicate roots, reduces transplant shock, and ensures those little plants settle in strong. These transplants will grow into the food that feeds our community, and there’s something really special about being part of that process. A quiet moment in the field, a warm flatbread lunch, and the deep joy of farming—it doesn’t get better than this.

The next step in the farming process—planting-is complete.
Each transplant (baby plant) is placed by hand into soil prepared with care. Our GPS-guided, self-driving tractor leads the way as we plant into biodegradable plastic that warms the earth, holds in precious moisture, secures the irrigation line, and keeps weeds at bay.
A process that used to take over a week—with fewer plants—is now done in a single day thanks to our transplant implement and tractor. Technology is helping us do more, with greater care and precision, than ever before.
Dirty hands, long days, and a deep commitment to feeding families near and far—that’s what it’s all about.

At Mortimer Farms, we’re big believers in slow food, whole foods, vine-ripened flavor, and shopping local. We love sharing the heart of our farm and the story behind your food.
But it’s more than just what we grow here. We also want to share the story of farmers and ranchers across Arizona and around the countrymen and women who pour their hearts into caring for the land, conserving water, stewarding animals, and feeding their communities with purpose and passion.

Baby animals everywhere.
Spring brings new life all over the farm—calves, lambs, chicks, and more. It’s one of the most exciting times of the year, but also one of the most important.
We focus on giving every animal the care they need to grow strong—clean water, good nutrition and a calm environment.
Raising livestock is a responsibility we don’t take lightly. We’re here every day to make sure they’re healthy, safe, and thriving from the very beginning.

We remember. We honor. We give thanks.
Today—and every day—we pause to reflect on the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.
Their sacrifice allows us to live, gather, work this land, and raise our families in peace.
We carry that gratitude with us in all we do.
We will never forget.
We just got the sneak peeks back from @justinegrace.photofilm of the Bradley wedding—and wow. This couple. These photos. Absolutely breathtaking.
The love between them was unmistakable, and The Barn and The Grove felt every bit as magical as the moment itself.
We can’t wait to see the full album and relive this day through every frame. There’s something timeless about capturing love in motion—and this one is a story we’ll never forget.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring about the story of your food. Thank you for supporting our family, our team, our farm, and Arizona agriculture!
** In our most recent post on social media and tell us why Mortimer Farms is special to you and your family. This will enter you into the drawing for two Farm to Table Dinner tickets! We will draw the winner in a few days.

Connecting your Family to your food!
The Heart of Mortimer Farms
We believe in being stewards of this planet and its resources. We believe in practicing smart and sustainable farming techniques. We believe that community and connection are at the heart of a good life. We believe in extending kindness, thoughtfulness, and hospitality to all we meet. We believe in embracing change and improving daily. We believe that experiences are far more valuable than things and that spending quality time together is the very best way to spend our time. We believe in discovering beauty, marveling in it, and savoring every moment.
We believe in preserving and honoring the importance of agriculture. We believe that as we share our story, we are also sharing the story of Arizona and American agriculture. We believe food is the thing that connects us all. We believe it’s time for the pendulum to swing back to the basics of slow food, shopping local, scratch cooking, gathering together, and buying directly from the farmer. We believe in “connecting your family to your food”.
This is the heart behind Mortimer Farms and the principles that drive us in all that we do.
