Connecting your family to your food.
In this email, we’re excited to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what we’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks here at Mortimer Farms.
Farming is a dying profession, but it remains essential for the survival of all. Mortimer Farms is the last farm of its kind in our area, and every day we fight against the odds—working long hours, sometimes 12-16 hours a day—to protect this land and the food it provides. We are passionate about our mission to preserve agriculture and bring fresh, local food to the community.
As a special thank you for being part of our journey, we’ve hidden a fun giveaway in this email! You’ll have the chance to win two free tickets to Valentine’s at the Farm, a true farm-to-table dining experience! We can’t wait to celebrate with you and share the magic of Mortimer Farms.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to what’s ahead!

That smile is why we do what we do! There's a special magic in being on a real working farm, enjoying farm-inspired activities, and connecting with the story of your food!
Our 2025 crop plan is complete, and we couldn’t be more excited! Planning crops for the upcoming year is no small task—it involves careful consideration of soil health, weather patterns, seasonal needs, variety favorite, and what will best serve our community and business. Every step of the process is about making sure our land is nurtured, our crops thrive, and that we continue to provide the freshest, most nutritious produce possible.
From farm-to-table meals at the Windmill Kitchen to vibrant produce at our Market & Deli, every crop we grow serves a purpose. These crops help create delicious meals for weddings, private events, and farm-to-table dinners, while also providing fresh veggies and herbs for our local farmers market and wholesale partners.
2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for crops, and we can’t wait to see how it all comes together. Every seed planted is a step toward to a thriving, sustainable future, and we are thrilled to share the bounty with our guests, community, and beyond!

Soil samples are happening today. This is a critical part of our planning process. We use the results to determine what the soil needs, where to plant each crop, and to continue our efforts in caring for the soil and land.

We are conscientious about the food we consume, which is why we work every day to produce the safest and freshest food possible. Just as we take pride in delivering safe, fresh, and delicious products to the community, we also take that same level of pride in the care we provide to our animals on the farm and ranch.

There’s something truly magical about how our team and customers become family. When we pour love and care into every detail, that’s when the real magic happens. It’s the connection, the heart, and the shared moments that make a huge difference in the lives of everyone involved. We’re beyond grateful for every person who is a part of this journey with us.

Mortimer’s Market is everything you love about a farmer’s market, open seven days a week, rain or shine. Our specialty farm to table market offers a fresh and friendly take on grocery shopping, where connecting to the story of your food happens naturally.

Today at the ranch, we moved cattle from one pasture to another, an essential part of ranching. As we worked, we couldn’t help but think of the devastation and heartbreak happening in California. Cattle on rangeland play a crucial role in maintaining the health of the land and helping to prevent wildfires. It’s a reminder of how vital the balance between livestock and land really is - how important cattle are to the lands.

So thankful to be the caretakers of this land and animals.

After a few warm weeks, it was a little chilly today. I hope this late cold isn’t a sign of a delayed spring. A late spring would push our growing season back. Farming is so dependent on the seasons, and we’re always at the mercy of the weather. But we’ll adapt, and the crops will grow when the time is right!
Today is an incredibly special day—the anniversary of the day we purchased Mortimer Farms!
A reality that came to be miracle upon miracle.
The fact that we were able to buy the property back from developers is truly extraordinary. Farmland is so rarely returned to farming once developers take ownership, and yet, against all odds, this land will be a farm for generations to come.
Every step of the way, miracles unfolded to make this dream possible.
From the first seeds planted to the community we’ve built together, it’s been a journey of hard work, blessings, and unwavering belief in the legacy of American agriculture.
We are beyond thankful to be the caregivers of this land, it’s animals and natural resources as we work with the land to grow food for the community.
To everyone who has been part of this story—our team, our guests, and our incredible community—thank you for your support, encouragement, and love. You’ve helped make this farm what it is today, a place where families can connect, laugh, and create lasting memories.

Tomato vines produce fruit at the tops of the plants, so as they grow, the lower vines stop producing and direct all their energy to the tops.

I already miss our main growing season. Yes, we have the greenhouses, and I’m so thankful for them. But there’s just something different about the entire farm in full production—the energy that comes from the endless work, the constant pressure, and the unwavering dedication to the land and growing food for our community.

OUR FARM FAMILY—the incredible management team that keeps Mortimer Farms magical!
This photo perfectly captures the strength, unity, and leadership of the people who make the magic happen every day. Each member of this team brings unique talents and passion to the table, working together to create unforgettable experiences for our guests, care for this beautiful land, and grow food for the community.
Thank you, Farm Family, for your dedication, hard work, and heart. Here’s to celebrating all we’ve accomplished as we “connect families to their food” and the exciting future ahead!

We are harvesting sage from the greenhouses for tonight’s Farm-to-Table Dinner! It doesn’t get any fresher than that. This time of year, many of our crops, including sage, are grown in our greenhouses. Greenhouses are an incredible tool for extending the growing season, allowing us to enjoy fresh vegetables year-round!
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring about the story of your food. Thank you for supporting our family, our team, our farm, and Arizona agriculture!
** Tag a friend, who would love the farm, in our most recent post on social media and tell them why Mortimer Farms is special to you. This will enter you into the drawing for two Valentines at the Farm tickets! We will draw the winner in a few days.

Connecting your Family to your food!
The Heart of Mortimer Farms
We believe in being stewards of this planet and its resources. We believe in practicing smart and sustainable farming techniques. We believe that community and connection are at the heart of a good life. We believe in extending kindness, thoughtfulness, and hospitality to all we meet. We believe in embracing change and improving daily. We believe that experiences are far more valuable than things and that spending quality time together is the very best way to spend our time. We believe in discovering beauty, marveling in it, and savoring every moment.
We believe in preserving and honoring the importance of agriculture. We believe that as we share our story, we are also sharing the story of Arizona and American agriculture. We believe food is the thing that connects us all. We believe it’s time for the pendulum to swing back to the basics of slow food, shopping local, scratch cooking, gathering together, and buying directly from the farmer. We believe in “connecting your family to your food”.
This is the heart behind Mortimer Farms and the principles that drive us in all that we do.
